Delivery Sequence
Four stages.
One precision platform.
From patch application to systemic uptake — the complete delivery sequence of the BioMed Labs microcrystal transdermal platform.
Apply
Patch placement on clean, dry skin
The patch is removed from its foil sachet and applied to a clean, dry area of skin — typically the upper arm or shoulder. Light pressure for 10–15 seconds ensures full contact between the microneedle array and the skin surface. No preparation, no clinical setting required.
- Peel-and-press application
- Upper arm, shoulder, or abdomen
- 10–15 seconds firm contact
- Wear time: 8–12 hours
Microstructure Contact
Microneedle tips engage the skin surface
The dissolvable microneedle tips — each less than 200 µm in height — make contact with the outermost skin layer. They do not penetrate the dermis or reach nerve endings. Skin moisture begins to soften the polymer tips, initiating the dissolution sequence.
- Tip height < 200 µm
- No dermal penetration
- Polymer softening begins on contact
- Pain-free by design
Dissolution
Microcrystals dissolve and release active compound
As the polymer matrix dissolves, the microcrystal payload is exposed at the skin interface. Crystal dissolution releases the active compound in a controlled manner governed by particle size distribution and crystal habit — not by a rate-limiting membrane. The release profile is predictable and reproducible.
- Polymer matrix dissolves in skin moisture
- Microcrystals exposed at interface
- Release rate set by crystal geometry
- No dose-dumping mechanism
Delivery Platform
Compound transits to the systemic circulation
The dissolved active compound permeates through the viable epidermis and into the upper dermis, where the capillary network provides access to systemic circulation. The GI tract, hepatic first-pass metabolism, and gastric acid are bypassed entirely. Uptake is governed by dermal perfusion and compound permeability.
- Transdermal permeation through epidermis
- Capillary uptake in upper dermis
- GI tract bypassed entirely
- First-pass metabolism avoided
